HOW TO MAKE TRAVEL MINDFUL

Today’s culture is device and pace-driven. As we stay connected, we’re disconnecting from ourselves, our relationships, nature, and culture. Juggling demands of every-day life has made people around the world feel unhappy more than ever in history. As stress-related illnesses has been increasing, call to slow down and unplug has gotten louder.

It’s no secret that travel is a powerful refreshing tool. In our always-on, externally dynamic world, it’s a way to remind us how small we, and our problems, really are compared to this exciting huge world we live in. Opportunity to travel is often a lifetime experience.  However, travel can be mentally and physically stressful too. New experiences can cause fear and anxiety. Time zone changes can wreak havoc on energy and sleep. Travel pressures us to think on our feet and to find calm amidst chaos.

This is when yoga comes in. Yoga tells us how to breathe out the anxiety and offers a space for quiet reflection amidst noise.

1. During yoga practice, when you focus on your breath, challenging poses become more accessible. Challenging situations arise and we usually forget to breathe. Take a deep breath and ask a question to yourself what can be done to ease the issue. 

2. Yoga tells us to be in ‘now’ and find stability there. Sometimes, it is hard to realise, but we can practice gratefulness for simply having the opportunity to travel. Once you are in a comfortable seat, close your eyes and allow your senses to turn inward for a reflective meditation. 

There are many advantages of yoga travel in Europe. It compliments the travel lifestyle by offering an opportunity to slow down, breathe, and move our bodies.
